New Jersey news from Eyewitness News
FREEHOLD, N.J. -- Several workers who became ill at a central New Jersey courthouse apparently had reactions to a freshly cut flower that a colleague had brought into the building
Monmouth County officials tell the Asbury Park Press (http://on.app.com/MFZxcc) that 17 county courthouse staffers were treated Friday afternoon for symptoms ranging from nausea to shortness of breath.
But none of the health problems were considered serious.
Officials believe the health issues stem from a freshly cut, vinelike-flower that was bought into a west wing office and draped around two cubicles.
It's not yet known what about the flower triggered the medical problems, but all cut flowers there were thrown out as a precaution.
Crews planned to thoroughly clean the courthouse over the weekend, and the building is expected to be open Monday.
