Cabbie shot during attempted robbery in Jersey City

JERSEY CITY (WABC) -- A cab driver is clinging to life after he was shot in the head during an attempted robbery in New Jersey early Monday.

Authorities say the shooting happened in a residential area in Jersey City, across from a warehouse, around 1 a.m.

The driver was shot one time, and police were searching for the gunman, who fled the scene.

It is unknown if the suspect took anything from the driver, who was rushed to an area hospital in critical condition.

The driver's identity has not been released.
