WOODCLIFF LAKE (WABC) -- A New Jersey high school coach is charged with sexually assaulting a former student.
Police say 24-year-old John Rankin, of Woodcliff Lake, was an assistant track coach and assistant bowling coach at Park Ridge High School when he allegedly sexually abused a female student starting in 2009 and continuing until she graduated.
Rankin, who has worked at the school since 2009, is being held on $50,000 bail.
The investigation began after Park Ridge High School learned of the alleged sexual abuse and contacted authorities.
Rankin is charged with second-degree sexual assault and second degree endangering the welfare of a child.
