JERSEY CITY, N.J. -- Dozens of people have been arrested on various charges as part of another major sweep by Jersey City authorities.
Officials say dozens of officers were involved in the sweep, which started early Friday night and continued into Saturday. They fanned out across the city's south and west districts and conducted surveillance of "hot spot locations" while making nearly 50 arrests.
Authorities also issued more than two dozen municipal ordinance and motor vehicle summonses as part of the operation.
A similar sweep conducted the previous weekend had resulted in 36 arrests and the recovery of multiple weapons.
The Jersey City Police Department led this weekend's operation, with cooperation from Hudson County authorities and the federal Drug Enforcement Agency.
