Boat comes apart from trailer on Garden State Parkway

IRVINGTON, New Jersey (WABC) -- A boat being hauled by a pickup truck came loose and sailed into coming traffic on the Garden State Parkway.

The truck was headed northbound when the boat broke lose near exit 145.

The boat hurtled over the center median into the southbound lanes.

Several cars had to be towed, but no serious injuries were reported.

Traffic was backed up in both directions as police cleaned the mess.
