NEW YORK (WABC) -- A New York City woman says she was beaten by police over a disagreement involving dog poop.
Anna Stanczyk tearfully recalled a frightening, terrifying and embarrassing nightmare that left her with painful injuries.
She claims those injuries came at the hands of two NYPD officers as she walked her beloved dog Psotka outside her Far Rockaway apartment building 12 days ago.
"The two police officers said to me they saw how my dog pooped and that I did not clean it up," Stanczyk said.
It surprised Anna.
She told the officers Psotka only urinated along Shore Front Parkway.
The officers from the 100th precinct pointed to a pile on the ground and told her to pick it up, even though she says it was cold and hard.
"I picked it up because I got scared. When they talked to me they were very mean and I picked it up," Stanczyk said.
She grew more upset and told the officers she did nothing wrong.
"The police officer driver he showed me handcuffs and he said to me, they can arrest me," Stanczyk said.
They did arrest her as the incident escalated.
"They put my hands in my back, pushed me in the back seat of the car," Stanczyk said.
"I screamed, 'Stop!' Like, I couldn't take it. She's handcuffed and in the back seat of a police car," said a neighbor.
The neighbor, who wanted to remain unidentified, gave an account of the situation.
"He leaned into the vehicle, into the back seat and went one, two three, four, five, six, in her head and her chest," the neighbor said.
Pictures of Anna taken after her arrest show heavy bruising around her eye and cheek and also on her breast and back.
She says the injuries came from the officers beating her.
"One punched me in my face, punched me in my back and breast. I just feel pain all in my body," Stanczyk said.
Anna was charged by the officers with resisting arrest and disorderly conduct.
She is now pursuing the beating through the civilian complaint review board.
"I am doing this for the protection of other people, because I think if they did this to me, they can do it to other people," Stanczyk said.
