80th birthday for Empire State Building

On May 1, 1931, New York's 102-story Empire State Building was dedicated.

For 80 years, the Empire State Building, known as the "World's Most Famous Office Building", has been standing tall above Midtown.

It soars 1,454 feet into the air and is easily one of the most recognizable buildings in New York City's skyline.

"On this significant anniversary, the Empire State Building celebrates 80 years of being an international symbol of innovation and ingenuity," said Anthony E. Malkin from the Empire State Building Company.

In honor of this monumental event, the Empire State Building will be lit in classic white on Sunday night.

The Empire State Building Observatories are open 365 days per year from 8 a.m. to 2 a.m.
