Christie denies report on Hudson River toll hike

Tuesday, June 07, 2011

Gov. Chris Christie is denying reports of a proposal to increase tolls on Port Authority-controlled crossings of the Hudson River.

"There has been no plans presented to the board of the Port Authority for consideration, certainly none has been presented to me," Christie said at a Statehouse news conference. "If one is presented, I certainly will give it due consideration."

The New York Post first reported that the Port Authority planned to increase tolls by 25 percent for all bridges and tunnels.

"That story is wrong this morning," Christie said.
