Teacher accused of hitting student with belt

An elementary school teacher from the Bronx is under arrest, accused of beating a student with a belt.

Police say it happened inside the Benjamin Franklin School in the Morrisania section Thursday morning.

The teacher, 54-year-old Pedro Molano, allegedly struck two students with the tip of a belt while breaking up a fight.

One student suffered scrapes on his face.

No one was seriously hurt.

He is charged with two counts of assault.
