Truck smashes into overpass on Belt Parkway

NEW YORK (WABC) -- A truck struck a Belt Parkway overpass in Brooklyn Tuesday morning, closing the eastbound lanes.

The eastbound truck hit the overpass at the East 14th Street intersection around 9:30 a.m.

The force of the crash knocked the container portion of the truck on the roadway.

One lane was reopened shortly after the crash, but the remaining lanes were expected to be closed until workers could clean up the debris.

Traffic was backed up for miles behind the accident.
