NEW YORK (WABC) -- A 14-year-old girl, making a passionate plea for peace in her own neighborhood comes just days after she was shot in a drive-by shooting.
She speaks exclusively to Eyewitness News, telling Tim Fleischer that she and a group of her friends stood on Lyman Place near Freeman Street Sunday night two weeks ago.
"They just put the gun out the window. They rolled the window down a little bit. They didn't even look at who they were shooting at," said the young victim.
It came from a car driving by. Nothing was said, just six rapid shots.
"When I looked down I saw blood, and that's when I fell," she adds.
Her 15-year-old friend was also shot sending police scrambling, responding to this and a string of 60 recent citywide shootings.
"The troubling part is that it is now going into our young people," said New York Sate Assemblyman Eric Stevenson.
The young victim was shot in the ankle, and the calf and continues to recover from her injuries.
