Police assaulted during incident at Bronx theater

Police on the scene of an incident at the Concourse Plaza Multiplex on East 161st Street in the Melrose section of the Bronx.

Two police officers are in the hospital after a knock-down fight with a couple they were trying to remove from a Bronx movie theater.

The incident happened close to midnight during a showing of the new Batman movie, The Dark Knight Rises, at the Concourse Plaza Multiplex on East 161st Street in the Melrose section of the Bronx.

Both officers suffered head injuries.

Police have the fighting couple in custody.

No word on charges, but police tell Eyewitness News that each one has at least 30 prior arrests.
