NEW YORK (WABC) -- He stopped at McDonalds to get a bite to eat, but that simple decision cost him his life.
The victim was fatally stabbed in the restaurant's parking lot. His fiancée is heartbroken.
"I saw his sneakers and stuff full of blood," said Erica Ortiz, the victim's fiancée.
When her fiancé failed to arrive at her apartment early Sunday morning, Erica Ortiz panicked and went out to look for her beloved.
She did not have to go more than a few blocks. She found his bloody shoes and clothes outside the McDonald's on Webster Avenue in the Bronx.
It is where 22-year-old Hansel Arias was fatally stabbed.
"He was coming home to his mom, he was coming home and he never made it," Ortiz said.
The victim with a big smile had big dreams. Eyewitness News is told he wanted to go to college for business and then own his own car store or restaurant.
Handel Arias recently purchased a Honda and apparently had just parked it at the McDonald's before losing his life.
"He wanted to just go to school, go there and come straight home," Ortiz said.
After an intense investigation, police arrested 22-year-old Enger Javier Monday, also from the Bronx.
Officials report that he has a prior record and was currently on probation for a robbery in 2008.
Now, he is facing murder charges.
For Erica Ortiz the arrest is one step closer to justice but it cannot erase the nightmare.
"I miss him," Ortiz cried.
