Shots fired as 2 men try to rob off-duty NYPD cop

NEW YORK (WABC) -- Police in the Bronx are hunting for two armed men who attempted to rob an off-duty police officer Wednesday night.

The officer was getting out of his car on Bruckner Boulevard at Theriot Avenue in the Soundview section around 9 p.m. when he was approached by the two suspects, who tried to rob him.

Shots were fired between the officer and the suspects, who fled the scene.

No one was hit by the gunfire, and the officer was not seriously hurt.

The suspects are still on the loose.
