STATEN ISLAND (WABC) -- A Staten Island man is under arrest for trying to kill his wife at a bowling alley.
Police say he fired a gun at her as she stood behind the snack bar, but the bullet didn't strike her.
Appearing frail, 74-year-old Armando Tritto entered a Staten Island courthouse draped in a hospital gown, oddly tied around his waist with police evidence tape.
He is the man police say boldly walked into a Staten Island bowling alley firing his .38 caliber revolver at his estranged wife and causing patrol cars to converge to the scene.
"About seven to ten cars, out front of the bowling alley," said Marc Medina, an eyewitness.
Friends say Maureen Tritto recently left her husband of five years, moving out of the house.
They say he was upset about it and showed up at Rab's Country Lanes Wednesday morning where Maureen has worked at the concession stand for the last four years.
"He came right into the building and approached her," said Frank Wilkinson, Rab's Country Lanes owner.
Sources say Armando didn't say much before he starting shooting.
She ran for cover through a door at which he kept shooting.
Armando was arrested after brief manhunt nearly two miles away.
Maureen was back at work Thursday morning, but ducked behind closed doors when Eyewitness News' cameras arrived.
