Survey lists New York as America's dirtiest city

NEW YORK (WABC) -- It looks like the Big Apple is showing some signs of rotting, and it's a little stinky too.

That's according to a new survey on America's dirtiest cities.

In fact, New York City ranked number one on the list in a poll by Travel and Leisure magazine of the 35 dirtiest cities.

Visitors and residents alike mentioned the garbage piled high on sidewalks and rat sightings.

But the thing that made it worse than cities like runner-up Baltimore was the foul odor detected in many parts of the city.
