Man arrested for allegedly raping woman in park

NEW YORK (WABC) -- Police have arrested a man for allegedly raping a woman in Tompkins Square Park.

The 31-year-old victim told police she was sleeping on a bench in the Park on Friday night when the man attacked her.

She fought him off and ran to a nearby deli.

The man followed her into the store where workers called police.

They arrested 27-year-old Ruben Canales, who told police he is homeless.
