NEW YORK (WABC) -- Two people who spent 17 years in prison for a murder they didn't commit are finally free.
As family members and supporters cheered, Eric Glisson walked out first, throwing up his arms in a victory stance.
Then, 44-year-old Cathy Watkins emerged, swarmed by her daughter and grandchildren.
"I'm very, very, very emotional and I'm just happy that it's just a few short steps from being over," Watkins said.
Although the Bronx DA agreed to conditionally vacate the murder convictions, the office insisted the two wear ankle monitoring bracelets while prosecutors confirm evidence of innocence uncovered by the U.S. Attorney's Office.
"It's demeaning, when they put it on, I described that to them, putting this on me, even though they know I am innocent just exacerbates my misery," Glisson said.
But at least they are out.
There is much more to this murder case.
Three others were convicted of murder along with Glisson and Watkins, and those attorneys have already filed motions to have those murder convictions overturned as well.
