NEW YORK (WABC) -- The husband of a Staten Island teacher found fatally stabbed in their duplex condo was arrested for her murder.
Police say 30-year-old Jonathan Crupi was arrested at his mother's house in Brooklyn Tuesday morning.
He is charged with the July murder of his wife, Simeonette Mapes-Crupi.
Crupi had told police he discovered his wife dead of multiple stab wounds. The death was initially believed to be the result of a home invasion.
According to police officials, detectives were skeptical of Crupi's story because there were no signs of forced entry, no valuables were taken, and condo neighbors did not hear a disturbance.
The victim was a city school teacher. Her husband taught English teacher at the same school.
