NEW YORK -- Police say an armed teenager who was shot and wounded by police officers on the roof of a building in Brooklyn was firing blanks.
Police were responding to a report of gunfire from a rooftop on Atlantic Avenue just after 9:35 p.m. Monday went they encountered two suspects.
One of the suspects, 16-year-old Gino Mercado, of Brooklyn, was armed with a Ruger revolver, which subsequently turned out to be loaded with blanks.
He was shot in both arms and his right ankle and was listed in stable condition at Brookdale Hospital.
