Suspect arrested in robbery of 85-year old woman in Chinatown apartment

NEW YORK (WABC) -- The suspect accused of following an 85-year-old woman into her apartment in Chinatown and robbing her is now in police custody.

The incident occurred Sunday, July 21, just before 11 a.m.

The suspect apparently got on the elevator with the victim, then got off before her.

As she entered her apartment, police say the suspect pushed her to the floor and stole cash from her, as well as from her residence, before fleeing the location.

The victim refused medical attention at scene.

The suspect was taken into custody Friday afternoon. Charges are pending and the suspect's name has not yet been released.
