Police searching for home invasion, attempted sexual assault suspect in Brooklyn

WILLIAMSBURG (WABC) -- Police are investigating an alleged home invasion and sexual assault in Williamsburg.

The victim told police she was attacked in her home on Berry Street late Monday night. She says the suspect sexually assaulted her.

The suspect, described only as a black man, knocked on the victim's door at around 8pm. When the victim answered, he pushed his way in, and started beating her up, punching her several times in the head and in the face.

At one point the suspect started to take his clothes off. When the woman screamed, the suspect got nervous and took off with the victim's laptop and iPhone.

Police have the area blocked off and are scanning rooftops in an active search in the neighborhood for the suspect.

The adult victim is being treated at Woodhull Hospital.

The attack appears to be random.
