YONKERS (WABC) -- The Westchester County medical examiner has confirmed that human remains were found inside a suitcase in Yonkers.
The suitcase was found on Sprain Road on Monday.
Authorities said it was an adult male torso - the head, legs, and hands were removed.
The exact age or race of the remains has not yet been determined.
The Detective Division is working with outside agencies to possibly identify these remains, including the use of DNA.
Members of the Detective Division, the Emergency Service Unit, and the New York State Police searched the area around Sprain Road for evidence on Tuesday.
