Funeral for Mt. Vernon firefighter who died during blaze

MOUNT VERNON (WABC) -- A funeral service was held Thursday morning for a Mount Vernon firefighter who died of a heart attack while responding to a fire in the city's Tony Fleetwood section.

Kevin Townes, 54, was laid to rest with full departmental honors at the Grace Baptist Church in Mount Vernon.

Townes died last Thursday at a house fire on Lorraine Avenue. The 25-year veteran was married with three kids.

A wake was held Wednesday night.
