Campus memorial set for victims of Marist house fire
POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. (WABC) -- A memorial service Wednesday for three college students killed in a raging house fire has been moved to a larger location due to the overwhelming turnout that is expected.
The interfaith service for Kevin Johnson, Eva Block and Kerry Fitzsimmons, all 21, will be held at the recreation center at Marist College in Poughkeepsie.
Fitzsimmons, from Commack, Long Island, and Block, of Woodbridge, Connecticut, were both students at Marist. Johnson, of New Canaan, Connecticut, attended Dutchess Community College.
All three died when flames raced through their off-campus house on Saturday.
Fitzsimmons' family released photos of her with a statement asking parents everywhere to celebrate January 21 as "Hug Your Child Day."
