Condos damaged in Connecticut brush fire

The dry weather led to brush fires in Connecticut, with a fire in the wetlands of Milford caused minor damage to some nearby condos.

It also destroyed a boardwalk that runs through the wetlands.

Fire forced the shutdown of Metro-North service Monday night, but trains have been running normally since then.

The first started next to the tracks and was fueled by discarded railroad ties that Metro-North workers dump along the tracks. They are soaked in creosote, which means they can burn for a long time.

Firefighters expect hot spots to smolder for days, and they will be monitoring the situation.

No injuries were reported.
