new york city website redesign

New York City has unveiled a redesign of its official website to make it more intuitive and accessible.

It's the first redesign of the NYC.gov site since 2003.

The website is now fully accessible on smartphones and tablets. Improvements also have been made to its back-end technology infrastructure.

Most of the changes are data-driven. The most frequently requested information about parking, transit, garbage collection and school openings is prominently featured.

From the site's homepage, visitors can get important alerts, file a 311 complaint, get customized information about their neighborhood and listing of events and programs. Mayoral announcements will be streamed live.

The site serves about 35 million unique visitors annually. It was established in 2000.
