NEW YORK (WABC) -- There's a new app that lets you try on eyeglasses, all in the comfort of your own home or wherever you are.
Kathy Lepper is all about her fashion frames, she has three pairs.
"Oh I just got a pair, the guys talked me into it. And I was afraid, but they are phenomenal," said Kathy Lepper, a Bay Ridge resident.
Now she may have a new favorite way to try on dozens of pairs, on her iPad!
"I'm really into technology even though I'm not good at it. But you know, I didn't grow up with it," Lepper said.
"You scan your face and it records images of your face all the way around, 180 degrees," said Gene Rodriguez, of glasses.com
Its virtual shopping for prescription lenses, she explained.
"This allows you to try on multiple pairs of glasses at the same time, and compare them side-by-side. Then, you can see them from every angle," said Gene.
It's pretty sci-fi, the kind they use in movies&exactly how they look on each side.
First you download the app, and then get in front of a mirror, and instructions will follow.
"First, slowly turn your head all the way left, and pause. Now, slowly turn your head back to the center and pause," the app said.
In a few minutes, a 3D image appears and the shopping begins.
For some New Yorkers, all of this technology is a little intimidating.
"I'm trying to get with the program, but you know, I don't have tablets, I don't have computers. I only have my smartphone," said Albert Rosa, a Hell's Kitchen resident.
But not Kathy Lepper who says she wouldn't have to rely so much on the salesperson's opinion.
"I love that I could show people who know my personality," Lepper said.
