Thursday, July 06, 2006

Police are investigating a fatal accident involving a Metro North train.

Eyewitness News has learned that a 16-year-old girl, who may have been leaning over the platform, was struck and killed by a northbound local train at the Fordham Station in the Bronx just after 4 p.m.

Metro-North service on the Harlem and New Haven lines in the Bronx has been restored following the accident.

Earlier, because of the accident, northbound trains were bypassing Bronx stops.

MTA police are investigating the death and an autopsy is planned. The victim's identity has not yet been released.
