Body found in Bronx park that of young, pregnant woman

Friday, November 17, 2006

There are new developments in the murder of a woman whose body was found stuffed in a plastic bag and dumped in a Bronx park. Police say she was a 24-year old nursing student and that she was pregnant.

Her body was found near Bronx Boulevard and Rosewood street earlier this week. Eyewitness News reporter Stacey Sager is in Williamsburg with the latest.

Her hands and legs were bound with duct tape. Her body was found in a park. Friends of Stacey Inman say they can't understand who would murder her and why.

Perri Sands, Cousin: I want the person to know who did that God sees everything. And you can't hide because he knows what you did and you know that deep inside you're wrong."

And somewhere between this family's anger and grief they are hoping for answers.

It was on Wednesday morning on Bronx Boulevard in Williamsbridge that the 24-year-old's body was found dumped in a garbage bag near a playground.

It was the body of Stacey Inman. Her friends tell us she was studying to be a nurse and had every reason to love her life.

Luz Navarette, Victim's Friend: "She was so happy, she said 'I'm three months pregnant, this is my first baby.' How could somebody even do something like that? to her.

Inman was last seen at a bodega where a friend dropped her off on Tuesday night. Until August, Inman had lived in Morrisania with her ex-boyfriend and his father.

Man: "I was shocked. You know you always hear about it and you think it's going to happen to someone else. And the crazy part is that we read it in the news today, that it was an unidentified woman. And so for it to be Stacey, it's unbelievable."

Andre Wilkinson, Victim's Ex-Boyfriend: "Whoever it was knew her. I know whoever it was had to know her. She wouldn't put herself in any type of situation to be involved like that."

All those we talked to said the same thing, that Stacey Inman was a good person who avoided bad situations. They also say she is just not the kind of person who would wander around alone outside. They're asking anyone with information on this case to call police.
