At least one dead in Morris Co. tanker accident

Tuesday, January 09, 2007

There is at least one confirmed fatality after a tanker accident in New Jersey Tuesday.

Authorities say the tractor-trailer jacknifed on Route 24 East in Florham Park, Morris County.

State police have confirmed the tanker was empty, but diesel fuel is reportedly leaking onto the highway.

Route 24 eastbound is shut down at Columbia Turnpike, with some traffic squeezing by on the shoulder.

Officials say the traffic is backed up all the way to Route 287.
