Truck carrying chickens flips over on BQE

Thursday, February 21, 2008

A truck carrying chickens overturned on the Brooklyn Queens Expressway overnight. Chickens were on the loose-- the accident caused traffic problems.

Eyewitness News reporter Jamie Roth is live in Clinton Hill, Brooklyn.

This all happened when the tractor-trailer flipped over on the BQE on an eastbound exit ramp. And when it did, the chickens inside, they came out.

One worker cleaning up the mess, estimated about 500 chickens on the truck, and eventually on walking around the expressway.

The tractor-trailer was towed just before 5 o'clock this morning and crews were able to reopen all the lanes.

But, other than a few chicken feathers, the BQE is back to normal.
