Wednesday, June 11, 2008

PATH service between 33rd Street and the Journal Square and Hoboken stations has been restored in both directions following a service disruption due to power cable damage caused by a track fire between the Christopher and 9th Street stations.

The fire started at the Ninth street station, damaging power cables and causing heavy smoke to fill some of the stations.

Many commuters were forced to evacuate quickly. The sweltering heat only made matters worse as more than 24,000 commuters were forced to alter their trip home.

However, PATH service has been restored this morning on the Hoboken to 33rd Street line and the Journal Square to 33rd Street line.

Regular service also will operate on the Newark-to-World Trade Center and Hoboken-to-World Trade Center lines.
