Truck obliterates bridge on Bruckner Expwy.

THE BRONX (WABC) -- All lanes of the Bruckner Expressway re-opened hours after a horrendous accident shut down the roadway.

The accident happened in Pelham Bay at Waterbury Avenue just after 2:15 early Friday morning.

That's where a dump truck crashed into a pedestrian bridge, sliced part of it off and sent it flying into the southbound lanes.

Traffic was a nightmare, backed up for miles. The debris caused the closure of the Bruckner Expressway. Northbound lanes were closed until daybreak. The southbound lanes did not open until the afternoon.
