Obama visit to impact buses, subways

President Obama's visit to New York City will have some impact on mass transit.

Below is information released by the MTA:

President Barack Obama is scheduled to visit Lower Manhattan on Monday, September 14, 2009. As a result many local and express bus routes in Lower and Midtown Manhattan are expected to be either delayed or detoured while the President's motorcade travels through the city. In addition, some subway station entrances/exits may be temporarily closed.

The following detours will be in effect Monday morning: BM1, BM2, BM3, and BM4 buses will exit the Battery Tunnel at Trinity Place, take Trinity Place to Church St. where they will resume their normal routes. The 57th Street bound X-1, X-10, X-17, X-27 & X-28 will travel via Church St., turn left on Canal St., right on Hudson St. onto 8th Ave, right on 14th St, left on 6th Ave where the buses will resume their normal routes.

All detours are subject to cancellation or change depending on instructions from the Secret Service and the New York City Police Department.

Customers of these and other Manhattan local bus routes are advised to check posted Service Alerts throughout the day at www.mta.info and give themselves extra travel time. Customers may call NYC Transit's Travel Information Center at 718-330-1234 between 6:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m. daily for help in planning their trips. Riders can also plan travel itineraries online any time of day by visiting NYC Transit's Trip Planner at http://tripplanner.mta.info/.
