NEW YORK -- The Long Island Rail Road is partially restoring electric train service on the Long Beach branch for the first time since Superstorm Sandy devastated the region.
New York Governor Andrew Cuomo says the Metropolitan Transit Authority will resume electric service on Sunday.
It's the first time the railroad will operate on a close to normal schedule on all of its 11 branches since the storm hit.
Fewer trains than usual will be running on Monday during rush hour.
The governor says Amtrak is still repairing the signal system that was damaged by flooding in two East River tunnels during the storm.
