TRENTON, N.J. -- A stubborn nor'easter battered New Jersey for a third straight day Saturday, dropping more rain as shore communities worked to clear flooded roadways and repair extensive damage caused by the storm.
But relief was finally on the way for weather-weary residents, as the powerful storm system - born from the remnants of Tropical Storm Ida - was exiting the region.
An Eyewitness News viewer sent in this video (CLICK HERE) from the Seaside Heights boardwalk.
Rain had stopped falling in most areas by early Saturday afternoon, while gusty winds were beginning to calm. However, coastal flood and high surf advisories were extended in most areas until 11 a.m. Sunday.
Meanwhile, officials were working to determine how much beach erosion was caused by the storm, which spurred flooding, downed trees and caused scattered power outages throughout the state.(Copyright ©2009 by The Associated Press. All Rights Reserved.)
