TRENTON, N.J. (WABC) -- A slow-moving nor'easter is bringing periods of heavy rain and wind to New Jersey.
Forecasters say minor to moderate coastal flooding is possible.
Rough surf could cause beach erosion in Jersey Shore towns that are still rebuilding nearly one year after Superstorm Sandy.
A coastal flood warning is in effect until 5 p.m. Thursday in Cumberland, Cape May and coastal Atlantic counties.
A coastal flood advisory is posted from Middlesex to southeast Burlington counties until 5 p.m. Friday.
A coastal flood advisory was also posted for low-lying areas of Queens, Brooklyn, and Nassau County.
Forecasters are predicting moderate to widespread minor flooding during high tide fueled by onshore winds Thursday afternoon that could continue through Sunday. Heavy rain could also contribute to flooding along the roads.
Rainfall totals are expected to be to 1 to 2 inches for the immediate Tri-State Area, although there could be as much as 3 or 3.5 inches on Long Island and along the Jersey Shore, and less than half an inch more than 75 miles north and west of the city. The wet weather is expected to linger into the weekend.
Wave heights on the ocean waters will be 6 to 10 feeet.
As of noon, one-hour delays were reported at Newark Airport, and 1 hour 15 minutes at LaGuardia Airport.
