Angie Hendershot

Angie Hendershot
Angie is co-anchor (with Bill Harris) of ABC12 News at 5, 6 and 11.

A Davison native, she attended Central Michigan University and earned a B.A.A. in political science and broadcasting. She also holds a Masters Degree in broadcast journalism from Northwestern University's Medill School of Journalism.

Prior to joining the ABC12 news team, Angie worked the weekend anchor desk at WLNS-TV in Lansing, Mich.

She joined ABC12 as a general assignment reporter in 1996.

Angie has won three Emmys. The first was in the News Feature category for a story about breast cancer survivors who went fly fishing for therapy.

Her second Emmy came in 2005 in the Hard News category for a story about gun violence and kids.

Angie's latest Emmy was awarded in 2007 for a story about the growing number of children growing up in our community without fathers.

Angie has won numerous Associated Press and MAB awards, including the 1999 award for breaking news for her coverage of the Clara Barton nursing home explosion and a 2003 follow-up investigative report on the Clara Barton nursing home explosion.

Her 2007 Associated Press award was for her "Dying Young" story about the number of young people in our community who are victims of violent crime.

In 1999, she was honored by the Flint firefighters for her coverage of the medical struggle and kidney transplant and recovery of a firefighter's son.

In addition to that, Angie received the 2004 community service award from Big Brothers/Big Sisters for ABC12's work with Monday's Child -- stories done by Angie that air Monday during ABC12 News at Noon and at 5 p.m. to help match children with mentors.

Angie has served on the board of the Shelter of Flint and for the Genesee and Lapeer chapters of the American Red Cross.

In her spare time, she enjoys running, golfing and fly fishing with her husband, Steve. They reside in Flushing with their two sons.
