Bill Harris

Bill Harris

Bill is co-anchor (with Angie Hendershot) of ABC12 News at 5, 6 and 11.

Bill graduated cum laude from the Boston University College of Communication with a Bachelor of Science degree in Broadcasting and Film. He earned his Associate of Arts degree from Holyoke Community college in Holyoke, Mass.

Originally from Massachusetts, Bill has also worked at WWLP-TV in Springfield, Mass., WTBU-AM, Boston, Mass., WREB-AM, Holyoke, Mass., and WCRX-FM in Springfield, Mass.

Bill came to ABC12 in 1977 as an anchor/reporter. He has also held the positions of news director and executive producer.

He is actively involved in the Children's Miracle Network Telethon, the Genesee/Lapeer Chapter of the American Red Cross, the Buicktown Chapter of the Buick Club of America, the Flint Symphony Orchestra, Music In The Parks, the Michigan Chapter of the National Academy of TV Arts and Sciences, and the Michigan Chapter of the FBI Citizens Academy.

During his 30 years at ABC12, Bill has received multiple honors from the Associated Press, the Aurora Awards and The Michigan Association of Broadcasting.

Bill is also a four-time Emmy winner, including a 2007 Emmy award for Best News Anchor. In 1999, he was inducted into the prestigious National Academy of TV Arts and Science's "Silver Circle."

Bill and his wife, Jane, reside in Grand Blanc and have two children, Nicole and Christopher. Nicole is pursuing a career in secondary education while Christopher is employed in the ABC12 production department as a director, camera operator and electronic graphic artist.
