Larry Elliott

Larry co-anchors ABC12 News This Morning and ABC12 News at Noon with Karen Gatlin.

He joined the ABC12 News team in 1979 and has held positions as the Saginaw bureau chief, general assignment reporter and automotive editor.

Born in Flint, Larry graduated from Alpena High School and Alpena Community College. He now lives in Frankenmuth with his wife, Susan. They have two sons, Todd and Andrew, and four grandsons, Mason, Conrad, Joshua and Alexander.

Larry began his career in radio as a program director and disc jockey at WATZ Radio in Alpena.

From there, he made the move across town to WBKB-TV, where he worked as a staff announcer, photographer, reporter, weatherman and news anchor.

Larry is a very active member of Frankenmuth Bible Church, where he serves as a deacon.

He is treasurer of the Frankenmuth International Aid Foundation, which supports the work of a local missionary doctor and his wife serving in Central America.

The past president of the Frankenmuth Optimist Club, Larry is also a former long-time member and past president of the board of directors of the Great Lakes Shipwreck Historical Society.

He has won numerous professional awards, including three Michigan Emmy awards, as well as awards from the Michigan Association of Broadcasters, the Detroit Press Club, the Associated Press and United Press International.

Larry is an avid diver and was involved in organizing and executing three expeditions to the Edmund Fitzgerald shipwreck and in producing three award-winning shipwreck documentaries.
