PRYOR, Okla. (AP) - It's the case of a dog whose bark is worse than his brake. Police in Pryor, Oklahoma, report a 70-pound pit bull jumped on a car's dash and managed to shift it into reverse. The owner was washing the car at the time in a car wash bay. Officers say the doggie-driven car backed onto a highway, looped around and finally stopped at an automated car wash lane. But the pit bull isn't in trouble because it has a license -- a dog license. However, the car was impounded after police say the owner wasn't able to show proof of insurance.
LAWTON, Okla. (AP) - Here's something to chew on -- gum wrappers won't pay your bar tab. Police in Lawton, Oklahoma, report busting Arnold Loren after he tried to pay a $32 bar bill with gum wrappers. A bartender says Loren first tried to put his bar tab on a credit card, which was declined. The bartender says Loren then started counting out gum wrappers as if they were cash. Loren was arrested after police say he shoved an officer.
SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - It's the strip club versus the video game -- and the game wins. PlayPen Gentleman's Club in East L.A. took Rockstar Games to court. The strip club claimed the game "Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas" violated its trademark. The game has the fictional Pig Pen club in East Los Santos. Lawyers for Rockstar say they're protected by the First Amendment. A federal appeals court agrees. A three-judge panel has tossed out the strip club's case.
LOVELAND, Colo. (AP) - Bacon or fries? Now, we're not talking about a restaurant order but a political race in Colorado. Voters had to make a tasty choice between Democrat incumbent Bob Bacon and Republican challenger Matt Fries for the state Senate. In the end, it was Bacon over Fries, as Senator Bacon was re-elected. Maybe next time Bacon will be up against Lettuce and Tomato.
HARPER WOODS, Mich. (AP) - Good luck with a bowling ball doesn't necessarily mean getting a strike or even a spare. Police in suburban Detroit report a bowling ball took a bullet for a teenager. Harper Woods Deputy Police Chief Jim Burke says someone in an SUV fired a pistol into a car with five teens on I-94. Burke tells the Detroit Free Press a bullet went through one of the car's doors and hit a bowling ball. The ball, in its bag, was sitting on the lap of one of the teens. Police are still looking for the shooter.
BEAUFORT, S.C. (AP) - You can't be too careful, especially when you're ripping off a home. Police in Beaufort, South Carolina, report a man who broke into a house was wearing two disguises. The suspect got away with a woman's purse and some other things. He was chased by the victim's son, who tore a white sheet off the bandit's head. But the Beaufort Gazette reports the bad guy was wearing a "Scream" mask under the sheet. Beaufort Police Major Matt Clancy says the whole thing is "definitively unusual."
