FLINT (WJRT) (WJRT) -- (04/24/07)--No matter what the temperature next week, there will be snow on the ground in downtown Flint. And actually, we can tell you which specific streets of Flint will be snow-covered.
And that's because a Hollywood crew will be in town laying the fake snow.
It may not look like it right now, but there's plenty of activity under way in preparing for the new Will Ferrell movie, "Semi-Pro."
The advance people have been in Flint for weeks already, making arrangements for shooting some of the final scenes of the film.
Facades of some downtown buildings are being spruced up, and plans to block traffic for certain times this Sunday and the later part of next week are under way with the police department.
<we are shooting on Harrison , Second, Saginaw, MLK, Buckham Alley and Brush Alley," said local location manager David Rumble.
"There will be snow on the streets next week. It won't be real snow. But it will look like snow. I'm not sure if we're doing Harrison. But it will be Saginaw. We'll have security keeping people at a safe distance."
Most of the big stars of the movie will be here for the shooting of the film, including Will Ferrell, Woody Harrelson and Will Arnett. It's not clear where and when they'll be here.
But we do know much of the shooting will take place in the evening because there are many night scenes.
And among the places the stars will be passing in front of are the storefronts along Saginaw, the Torch on Buckham Alley, the Capitol Theatre, the Old Carriage Inn on MLK and the "Flint Journal" by the old presses.
It turns out the work to spruce up some of these storefronts for the movie is already having an economic impact here with at least one businessman planning to open up a real bar that will be the scene of a fake bar in the movie.
