Traveling Wii attracting younger crowd at area libraries

Monday, July 21, 2008

(07/21/08)--In this the age of revolutionary technology, it's important to keep up with all the advancements. And that's exactly what the Genesee District Library is looking to do for the community.

This is harder than it looks. The Genesee District Library is helping bridge the digital divide.

Gone are the days of sushing and mundane workshops. Now there's a Nintendo Wii. It sits at the front of the branch in Mount Morris.

It's just one of the new features being offered by the district. By expanding technology, it's gaining more patrons, particularly the hard-to-get teenage populace.

Not surprisingly, it seems to be working.

The GDL is also making it easy to download music and games to your iPod and mp3 player from home.

The GDL will soon offer advanced technology for the disabled. State-of-the-art audio and visual programs are headed to county a little later this year.

That Wii is traveling throughout the district right now. It will be at the branch in Mount Morris all week.
