FLINT (WJRT) -- (08/01/08)--Friday was moving day for a Flint civil engineering firm which is now the latest piece in Flint's downtown revitalization plan.
Wade Trim is now in its new space -- 8,500 hundred square feet in a multi-million-dollar building in the heart of downtown Flint.
Wade Trim didn't move far. In fact, it's just a few blocks south of its old location. But this is a significant move for the company.
They are excited about being in the first brand-new building along Saginaw Street in downtown Flint in decades.
"We have been looking forward to this for a long time, and moving downtown to be part of the revitalization of downtown is something we are very excited about," said Wade Trim Vice President Jason Kenyon.
Wade Trim is a national civil engineering firm and has been in Flint for the past 20 years.
Their continued growth has caused them to move nearly a half dozen times. But their latest move may be the last for a long time.
"It's a very exciting space. Tthe architect did a great job with the open environment and the open ceilings and the tall ceilings, which makes it feel extra, extra big in here," Kenyon said.
"The furniture is all new, so we are pretty excited about that and we take up the whole second floor.
"Most all of the employees are here in the back of the building and we have about 8,500 square feet, so it's certainly larger than where we were at."
Everything is being cleaned and put in to place for the start of businesses Monday.
Kenyon says a bigger grand opening is being planned for later, and he hopes the public will come out and view their new place.
