FLINT (WJRT) -- 09/17/08)-- The Mott Foundation Building was the star yesterday. Today, it's Atwood Stadium and the Mott RTC.
As ABC12's Marc Jacobson tells us, some local athletes and a historic city venue received the Hollywood treatment.
The Genesee County Patriots are ready for their close-ups. The semi-pro football team members landed roles as extras in the motion picture "All's Fair in Love."
"They were here at the game, and afterwards, the producers talked to our coach, and here we are today," Patriots kicker Brian Dinnan said.
The film stars Christina Ricci and Cedric The Entertainer. Production moved from downtown Flint over to Atwood Stadium this morning. Patriots coach Brad Lyon will play what he knows best -- a coach. He even has a line or two."I don't even have a script yet. Not a clue what I'm going to say. I'm familiar with my whistle, so I have half the job done," Lyon said.
Atwood Stadium has played host to Presidents Kennedy and Eisenhower, not to mention a concert by The Who. The 81-year-old facility was just what the directors were looking for.
"We needed a stadium, a football stadium with a college feel," said Director Scott Marshall.
"It's an historical stadium. It's great to be here."
If Marshall's name sounds familiar, it should. Scott grew up on the set of Happy Days, watching his father, Gary, call the shots for the Fonze.
"I wanted to be a football player, but I wasn't big enough or tall enough, so I went into filmmaking, the family business," Marshall said.
Scott's even seen some time in front of the camera.
"I played Potsie's nephew, I played Chachi's cousin. I played the kid in the hospital when Fonzie had his tonsils taken out. Anytime they needed a kid, I was always the kid."
Production of "All's Faire in Love" moved over to Mott's RTC building this afternoon. Tomorrow, five more weeks of filming will begin at the Renaissance Festival in Holly.
