Campaign for millions for UM-Flint exceeds expectations

Thursday, December 04, 2008

(12/04/08)--A major campaign to raise millions for one Mid-Michigan college has exceeded expectations.

The program is called "Imagine: The University of Michigan-Flint Difference," and Thursday, they were announcing the results of fundraising efforts.

The university had a goal of $30 million. In three and a half years, it raised nearly $40 million.

This was the first time the school organized a major fundraising goal in its more than 50-year history.

The purpose of the campaign was to raise money for a variety of university initiatives, including research and scholarships.

The campaign began in 2005. Since then, nearly 100 new scholarships have been established.
