Fire crews fight oil company blaze

Wednesday, August 05, 2009

(08/04/09)--A massive chemical fire in northern Genesee County was forcing the mandatory evacuation of residents in an area spanning well over a square mile Tuesday.

The 911 supervisor says anyone living inside the square area between Jennings Road on the west; Francis Road on the south; Center Road on the east; and Vienna Road on the north, you are to leave your home and to evacuate due to potential toxins in the air.

Evacuees are to head for Trinity Assembly of God on Mount Morris Road. The Red Cross has set up a shelter.

The fire broke out at White Oil Company on North Saginaw Road just before 3:30 p.m.
