Local swine flu vaccination clinics planned

(11/05/09) -- UPDATE -- Some Mid-Michigan counties have received vaccine and will hold swine flu (H1N1) vaccination clinics this week.

Questions? Check with your local health department for seasonal flu vaccine availability.

In Genesee County, a nasal spray only clinic will be held Thursday, Nov. 5 between 4-6 p.m. at Swartz Creek High School. Check the Genesee County Health Department Web site for instructions and guidelines.

Eligible recipients include children and young adults 2 through 24 years of age, people 25 through 49 years of age ONLY if they live with or care for infants less than 6 months of age, health care or emergency medical personnel under the age of 50.

Special flu shot clinic for children 6 months through 3 years of age in Genesee County.

The appointment-only clinic will give out 2009 H1N1 Nasal Spray vaccine AND the 2009 H1N1 Flu Shot.

To schedule an appointment, please call (810)-237-4546. Vaccine will be provided ONLY to children 6 months through 3 years of age. Nasal Spray can be given to healthy children ages 2-3 years of age at this clinic. The 2009 H1N1 vaccine is free to all. Yet, clients with health insurance must bring their insurance information to receive flu vaccine at no cost. This includes Medicaid, and Health Plus. Children must be accompanied by their parent or legal guardian.
Others who are interested in getting the 2009 H1N1 Flu Shot or Nasal Spray are encouraged to attend one of the McLaren Visiting Nurse sponsored School-located clinics scheduled for Genesee County. The GCHD posts all public locations where 2009 H1N1 vaccine is available on its website and hotline.

Saginaw County Department of Public Health will hold a public H1N1 vaccine clinic on Friday, November 6, 2009, at the Freeland Sports Zone, 5690 Midland Rd Freeland, MI 48623-8845, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm.

Pregnant women
Persons who live with or provide care for infants aged <6 months (e.g., parents, siblings, and daycare providers)

Based on Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines, vaccines will be administered to the following high risk groups on a first-come, first-served basis.

Bay County:

Bay County Health Department will hold two H1N1 Influenza vaccination clinics at the Bay County Community Center. The first clinic will be held on Tuesday, November 10 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm, and the second clinic will be held on Saturday November 14 from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm. The Bay County Community Center is located at 800 John F. Kennedy Drive in Bay City.
