MID-MICHIGAN (WJRT) -- (11/04/09) -- UPDATE -- Residents across many Mid-Michigan communities weighed in on things from mayoral races to city council seats, millages and recall efforts.
In Flint, city council candidates were vying to fill seats in all nine wards.
With 100-percent of precincts reporting, 1st Ward incumbent Delrico Lloyd won with 55 percent of the vote.
The 2nd Ward incumbent, Jackie Poplar, won with 62 percent of the vote.
In the 3rd Ward, Bryant Nolden came out on top with 59 percent of the vote.Joshua Freeman unseated incumbent Sandy Hill in the 4th Ward. He picked up 69 percent of the vote.
In the 5th Ward, Bernard Lawler won with 55 percent of the vote, beating out Lynne Waybright.
Incumbent Sheldon Neely of the 6th Ward won with 66 percent of the vote.
Pulling in 60 percent of the 7th ward votes, Dale Weighill won the seat.
In the 8th Ward, incumbent Ehren Gonzales was beaten by Michael Sarginson, who got 56 percent of the vote.
In Flint's 9th Ward, incumbent Scott Kincaid won the runoff with 59 percent of the vote.
Flint residents decided the fate of funding for the city's Mass Transportation Authority.
The final tally shows 68 percent of the voters support the MTA millage renewal.
It will extend the tax five more years, until 2016.
In Saginaw, residents voted on eight citywide proposals, one of which got a lot of attention.
Proposal 8 was an attempt to get rid of the city's 30-year-old property tax caps.
With 100 percent of the precincts reporting, the proposal failed with 75 percent of voters saying no.
A similar proposal has been turned down six times over the past 26 years.
